Newberg Old-Fashioned Festival

This Newberg town festival is a treat for the whole clan. We're delighted to be part of the festivities and will be waking up the neighborhood on Sunday morning with your favorite hot jazz classics. Marilyn is overseas this summer, so the guys are taking over, featuring Rick, Don, Steve, John, Alan, Ron & Kit. Let's pahhhrtee! Marilyn Keller is touring overseas at this time, so Black Swan's all-male revue includes cornetist Rick Holzgrafe, drummer Ron Leach, banjoist/vocalist Alan Phillips, clarinetist Steve Matthes, trombonist Don Stone, pianist John Bennett and tuba owner Kit Johnson. This all-weekend celebration of a wonderful community is packed full of good food, entertainment and fun for the whole family. Don't miss it!

Pentastic Hot Jazz Festival

We're very excited to return to this wonderful event again in 2016! This is a fantastic festival with a great mix of bands in one of the prettiest places around. You'll hear the likes of Lennart Axelsson and His European All Stars, Cornet Chop Suey, Tom Rigney & Flambeau, Cocuzzi Coots Courtet, Bob Draga with Friends, Gator Nation, Lance Buller, Benny and the Good Men and Dave Bennett & the Memphis Speed Kings. Black Swan will feature cornetist Rick Holzgrafe, drummer Ron Leach, banjoist Alan Phillips, vocalist Marilyn Keller, clarinetist Steve Matthes, trombonist Don Stone, pianist John Bennett and tuba dude Kit Johnson. A new season begins for Portland's traditional jazz lovers, and Black Swan is happy to be kicking off the festivities. We are looking forward to returning to Ballard, Washington to celebrate traditional jazz with the good folks in the PSTJS. Black Swan will feature cornetist Rick Holzgrafe, drummer Ron Leach, banjoist Alan Phillips, vocalist Marilyn Keller, clarinetist Steve Matthes, trombonist Don Stone, pianist John Bennett and chief helicon owner Kit Johnson.

Shriner's Fundraiser

Jack & Earline Dawes and many friends are bringing back another vintage jazz celebration to help raise funds for the Al Kader Shriners and the worthy work they do providing care for children and families in need. You'll hear many fine ensembles in a concert that goes like the wind. Black Swan is happy to contribute to the cause and will include Marilyn Keller, vocals; Rick Holzgrafe, cornet; Ron Leach, drums; John Bennett, piano; Steve Matthes, clarinet; TBD, trombone; TBD, banjo; and Kit Johnson, tuba.

Traditional Jazz Society of Oregon

Don't miss this celebration sponsored by one of the bona-fide "oldy-but-goody" traditional jazz societies in the west. TJSO meets at the Springfield ELKs lodge at 1701 Centenniel Boulevard. Nice people, great dance floor and good bands make up an environment sure to please. Seaside Jazz Festival

When the coastal destination town of Seaside puts on a jazz festival they go all out! High caliber performers include your own Black Swan CJB, High Sierra, Tom Rigney, Dave Bennett, Uptown Lowdown and many more. Sites are in easy walking distance from each other, as are many of the fine sightseeing locales, hotels and restaurants. We hope you'll join us. Vocalist Marilyn Keller, cornetist Rick Holzgrafe, drummer Ron Leach, banjoist Alan Phillips, clarinetist Steve Matthes, trombonist Don Stone, pianist John Bennett and minder of the big brass' spit valve Kit Johnson make up the lineup.

Episcopal Church of the Good Samaritan

Black Swan is thrilled to return for another year as a featured artist at the Sundays afternoon concert series and to celebrate music in worship earlier in the day. James Moursund leads a terrific choir and outreach program through music to the Corvallis community. This is always an uplifting experience for the musicians and the audience/congregation. Join us.  Musicians are expected to include Portland vocaler Marilyn Keller, Portland corneter Rick Holzgrafe, Vancouver drummerer Ron Leach, Eugene banjoer Alan Phillips, Corvallis clarineter Steve Matthes, Montana tromboner Don Stone, Portland pianoer John Bennett and Portland tubaer Kit Johnson.
