The Black Swan Quintet will be entertaining members and guests at Portland's historic athletic club for Happy Hour at the Bistro. Call for reservations. Musicians are Rick Holzgrafe, cornet; Ron Leach, drums; John Bennett, piano; Jim Buchmann, reeds; and Kit Johnson, tuba.

Lacey Jazz and Dance Party

Charlotte Dickison and the Sun Valley Festival are presenting a final weekend jazz event in Olympia on June 29th through July 1st with a host of fine bands. Black Swan is performing two sets Satursday at 11:45 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. Portland's Marilyn Keller on vocals, Rick Holzgrafe on cornet, John Bennett on piano, and Kit Johnson on tuba, along with Vancouver drummer Ron Leach, Eugene banjo/vocalist Alan Phillips, Corvallis clarinetist Steve Matthes, and Helena, Montana trombonist Don Stone.

Pentastic Hot Jazz Festival

We cannot overstate how fun this festival is every year. Wonderful bands, good venues and people who are there to enjoy each other and the opportunity to listen and dance to great music. Bands in 2018 include Bria Skonberg's NY All Stars, Dave Bennett's Memphis Speed Kings, Tom Rigney & Flambeau, Grand Dominion and many more. We can't wait for the party, with vocalist Marilyn Keller, and instrumentalists Rick Holzgrafe, Ron Leach, Alan Phillips, Steve Matthes, Don Stone, John Bennett and Kit Johnson there to do the honors for Black Swan.

A new season begins for Portland's traditional jazz lovers, and Black Swan is happy to be kicking off the festivities. We're excited to head back to the 39th annual San Diego Jazz Festival for the first time since 2012. This is an absolutely marvelous way to spend your Thanksgiving weekend. We look forward to seeing you there, with vocalist Marilyn Keller, and instrumentalists Rick Holzgrafe, Ron Leach, Alan Phillips, Steve Matthes, Don Stone, John Bennett and Kit Johnson there to entertain and have fun with you.

Shriner's Fundraiser

Jack & Earline Dawes and many friends are bringing back another vintage jazz celebration to help raise funds for the Al Kader Shriners and the worthy work they do providing care for children and families in need. You'll hear many fine ensembles in a concert that goes like the wind. Black Swan is happy to contribute to the cause and will include Marilyn Keller, vocals; Rick Holzgrafe, cornet; Ron Leach, drums; John Bennett, piano; Steve Matthes, clarinet; TBD, trombone; and Kit Johnson, tuba.

Episcopal Church of the Good Samaritan

Black Swan is thrilled to return for another year as a featured artist at the Sundays afternoon concert series and to celebrate music in worship earlier in the day. This is always an uplifting experience for the musicians and the audience/congregation.
