Olympia Jazz Society

Our next performance is at the Olympia ELKs #186 at 1818 4th Avenue. Instrumentalists Rick Holzgrafe, Ron Leach, Alan Phillips, Steve Matthes, John Bennett, Andy Hall and Kit Johnson are on tap to entertain you, and will be even shining on a few extra vocals, as Marilyn Keller is taking the day off to continue her theater run of "Crowns" in Portland.

Secret Society Thursday Swing!

Five Swans will be shaking tail feathers at the Secret Society on Thursday, April 4th. This will be a romp; no holds barred. Craig McKinley on banjo, Jim Buchmann on reeds, Rick Holzgrafe, on cornet, piano maestro John Bennett, and Kit Johnson on tuba will be blowin' some hot jazz. Melissa Roane's dance lesson at 6:00. Black Swan Quintet at 6:30. Dance lesson at 8:30. Pearl Blossom at 9:00. Make a night of it!

Episcopal Church of the Good Samaritan

Black Swan is thrilled to return for another year as a featured artist at the Sundays afternoon concert series and to celebrate music in worship earlier in the day. This is always an uplifting experience for the musicians and the audience/congregation. Join us. Our stellar lineup of musicians will feature Portland's Rick Holzgrafe on cornet, John Bennett on piano, and Kit Johnson on tuba, along with Vancouver drummer Ron Leach, Eugene banjo/vocalist Alan Phillips, Corvallis clarinetist Steve Matthes, and Helena, Montana trombonist Don Stone.

Marilyn will be out-of-state performing at the National Museum of African-American Heritage and Culture in Washington D.C. that day, so the boys will be sailing the boat on their own. It's bound to be a ruckus!

28th Annual America's Classic Jazz Festival

We are so thrilled that Charlotte Dickison and crew are back in action with another edition of America's Classic Jazz Festival. This annual event -- the 28th -- will again take place on the Saint Martin’s University Campus – Marcus Pavilion in Lacey, Washington. They always have a stellar lineup of jazz bands & guest artists. Youth of all ages will enjoy dancing and listening throughout the weekend. Black Swan will again feature Portland's Marilyn Keller on vocals, Rick Holzgrafe on cornet, John Bennett on piano, and Kit Johnson on tuba, along with Vancouver drummer Ron Leach, Eugene banjo/vocalist Alan Phillips, Corvallis clarinetist Steve Matthes, and Helena, Montana trombonist Don Stone.

Black Swan will be presenting a summer afternoon concert at Touchmark in the West HillsMarilyn Keller delights on vocals, along with Rick Holzgrafe on cornet, Steve Matthes on clarinet, John Moak on slide trombone, Ron Leach banging drums, John Bennett tickling the ivories on piano, Craig McKinley on banjo, and Kit Johnson oompahing the tuba.

Pentastic Hot Jazz Festival

We cannot overstate how fun this festival is every year. Wonderful bands, good venues and people who are there to enjoy each other and the opportunity to listen and dance to great music. We can't wait for the party, with vocalist Marilyn Keller, and instrumentalists Rick Holzgrafe, Ron Leach, Scott Anthony, Steve Matthes, Don Stone, John Bennett and Kit Johnson there to do the honors for Black Swan.
