It just keeps getting better.

May 31 - June 2	Rusty Stiers (Friday) & Ernie Carbajal (Saturday & Sunday), trumpets Steve Matthes, clarinet James Meyer, trombone John Bennett, piano Rich Neuwirth, banjo Glenn Koch, drums & washboard Kit Johnson, tuba	Spokane Dixieland Festival Various The Spokane festival was also a first for the band and only the second year for the festival.
June 14-16 Various Times	Ernie Carbajal, trumpet Steve Matthes, clarinet James Meyer, trombone John Bennett, piano Dave Brown, banjo Glenn Koch, drums & washboard Kit Johnson, tuba	West Seattle Dixieland Festival This was the band's first appearance in West Seattle, including a gospel performance on Sunday at the Alki Church.
June 29-30 Various Times	Ernie Carbajal, trumpet Steve Matthes, clarinet Don Stone, trombone John Bennett, piano Dave Brown, banjo Glenn Koch, drums & washboard Kit Johnson, tuba	Art, Wine & All That Jazz Festival Sequim, Washington on the beautiful Olympic peninsula was the site for this two-day festival. The band played five sets during the event.
July 28 9:00am to 11:45am	Ernie Carbajal, trumpet Steve Matthes, clarinet Bill Kick, trombone John Bennett, piano Rich Neuwirth, banjo Glenn Koch, drums & washboard Kit Johnson, tuba	Newberg Old-Fashioned Days The full band played two sets in the Newberg Park as part of the free-to-the-public Newberg Old-Fashioned Days. .
July 28 2:00pm to 5:00pm	Ernie Carbajal, trumpet John Bennett, piano Rich Neuwirth, banjo Kit Johnson, tuba	Jazz in the Harbor This was a quartet playing for Bob Pettingill's Jazz in the Harbor series, a monthly Sunday cruise on the Spirit of Portland. .
September 8 2:00pm to 4:30pm	Ernie Carbajal, trumpet Steve Matthes, clarinet James Meyer, trombone John Bennett, piano Rich Neuwirth, banjo Glenn Koch, drums & washboard Kit Johnson, tuba	Canby Performing Arts Center Canby Performing Arts was the first in our 1996 series of concerts. We featured the music of Fats Waller, including a number of the cuts on our new Fats Waller resording.
September 28 1:00pm to 3:00pm	Ernie Carbajal, trumpet Steve Matthes, clarinet James Meyer, trombone John Bennett, piano Craig McKinley, banjo Glenn Koch, drums & washboard Kit Johnson, tuba	Dixon Wedding Reception This was a private party for Mr. & Mrs. John Dixon and several hundred friends.
October 6 2:00pm to 4:30pm	Gale Hazel, vocal Ernie Carbajal, trumpet Steve Matthes, clarinet James Meyer, trombone John Bennett, piano Rich Neuwirth, banjo Glenn Koch, drums & washboard Kit Johnson, tuba	Corvallis' Majestic Theater We held our third self-produced concert at Corvallis' Majestic Theater, a matinee performance. This concert featured vocalist Gale Hazel, a wonderful singer from Corvallis who performs in a wide array of styles.
October 13 2:00pm to 4:30pm	Ernie Carbajal, trumpet Steve Matthes, clarinet James Meyer, trombone John Bennett, piano Rich Neuwirth, banjo Glenn Koch, drums & washboard Kit Johnson, tuba	Portland's Old Church Portland's Old Church, a historical facility at 11th and Clay was the site for this self-produced concert. It was the band's first concert at the Old Church, but hopefully not the last, as it is a wonderful facility.
October 18 7:30pm to 10:00pm	Ernie Carbajal, trumpet Steve Matthes, clarinet James Meyer, trombone John Bennett, piano Rich Neuwirth, banjo Glenn Koch, drums & washboard Kit Johnson, tuba	Florence Performing Arts This was the opening concert for the Florence Performing Arts Society's 1996-97 calendar year and the first in the series at the new Florence Community Center, a wonderful theater with concert seating for approximately 450 people.
November 1-3 Various Times	Ernie Carbajal, trumpet Steve Matthes, clarinet James Meyer, trombone John Bennett, piano Dave Brown, banjo Glenn Koch, drums & washboard Kit Johnson, tuba	Ocean Shores Dixieland Festival The BSCJB returned to Ocean Shores for the third time in 1996 and were rewarded with good weather (a rarity this time of year).
November 8-10 Various Times	Ernie Carbajal, trumpet Steve Matthes, clarinet James Meyer, trombone John Bennett, piano Rich Neuwirth, banjo Glenn Koch, drums & washboard Kit Johnson, tuba	Scottsdale Dixieland Jazz Festival This was our first trip to Arizona and a great opportunity to enjoy November in the desert. The sites were great, people were wonderful, and provided an opportunity to hear some great bands for the first time. The band performed special Fats Waller and Gospel concerts during the weekend.
December 13 6:00pm to 8:00pm	Meryl Conger, trumpet Ollie Fosback, clarinet Bob Turbush, trombone John Bennett, piano Craig McKinley, banjo Glenn Koch, drums & washboard Kit Johnson, tuba	Hilton Hotel - Anniversary Celebration We celebrated a corporate anniversary with Ewe Me & Company at the hotel at this performance. Due to a sudden rash of illness and other conflicts we redubbed the name of the band "Black Swan Minus Four Plus a Different Four" for the evening.
